Billy Blue College of Design, arguably the leading design college in Australia, has its first footprint in WA through a new partnership with Central Institute of Technology.
The collaboration between private and public training providers has led to a new Associate Degree of Applied Design (Commercial Interior).
This is a first for WA and the course enables students to become qualified Interior Designers in two years.
The internationally recognised qualification focuses on commercial design and is taught by professionals working in the industry.
Since 1987, Billy Blue College of Design has launched the careers thousands of graduate creatives and thought leaders, qualified and ready to make their mark in the design and creative industries. Billy Blue is synonymous in the eastern states with premier design training. This new Associate Degree opens up a great career avenue for all the budding creatives currently in the west.
Associate Lecturer Kyri Tombouloglou, said: "This is a great opportunity as it provides students with hands-on practical skills within a higher education qualification.
"I see it as a ‘master and apprentice’ scenario wrapped up in a higher qualification environment. This unique course is a springboard to a career in interior design, with graduates gaining all the right, industry-relevant attributes."
Billy Blue's Head of Academic Studies for Commercial Interior Michael O’Brien (pictured with the 2013 cohort above), said "In today’s imagination and reputation economy, creative, motivated, reliable and dynamic designers are fast becoming the rule rather than the exception. This course arms graduates with the confidence and skills needed to thrive in the industry."
