Apprenticeships, Traineeships & Workplace Training

Printing & graphic arts industry employees are in great demand, both in Australia and overseas. Apprentices and trainees in the printing & graphic arts industry acquire skills needed to produce a large range of printed items, such as books, posters, CD labels, food packaging, clothing and magazines.
 
Apprenticeships
Apprentices in the Printing & Graphic Arts industry start at Certificate III. Training for apprentices is conducted both in the workplace, at Central's Northbridge campus, as well as on-line for Graphic Pre-press (no block release). Central may be able to tailor a flexible training program to suit your workplace.

Traineeships
Traineeships in the printing industry start at Certificate II and usually take 18 months to complete. All training is conducted in the workplace to ensure minimum disruption to the operation of your business. The trainee gains the required skills, knowledge and experiences in the workplace to achieve a nationally recognised Certificate II qualification. At the end of the traineeship trainees can choose to continue on to a Certificate III apprenticeship.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Central's lecturers can work with your business to recognise skills of existing employees that may have been acquired on the job, through formal education, work and life experience. Contact Central to find out more about the RPL process.
 

School Based Traineeship

High school students are eligible to do a School Based Traineeship in the Printing & Graphic Arts industry. If your business needs an extra pair of hands one or two days a week, you may like to consider taking on a School Based Trainee.
 

Government Incentives

The Australian Federal and State governments offer funding incentives for programs that provide training to address shortages and upskill employees.
