Central Student Awards 2013

The Central Student Awards provide an excellent opportunity for you to tell us
your story and be recognised for your achievements, both at Central and life
outside of study.


Monetary prizes are up for grabs as well as the opportunity to network with
industry professionals.

 

Winners of the Central Student Awards (for categories 1, 3 & 6) will automatically become eligible as a nominee for the WA Training Awards run by the Department of Training and Workforce Development.

 

Those who succeed at the State awards become eligible for the Australian Training Awards.  We congratulate our very own interior design student, Nathan McGuire who was our National Training Awards winner for the Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander student of the year.

 About

 

Award Categories

1.  Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year

2.  Access & Diversity Student of the Year

     a)  Students with a Disability

     b)  Student from a non-English speaking background

3.  Apprentice / Trainee of the Year

4.  International Student of the Year 

5.  VET In Schools Student of the Year

     (Students who completed the VET In Schools program in 2012)

6.  Vocational Student of the Year

     (Certificate and Diploma level) 

 

Winners will be chosen from each of the above categories and of these winners the 2013 Central Institute of Technology Student of the Year will be selected.
 

Selection Process and Panel


A series of selection panels will determine Award winners for each category and the selection process will include assessment by the panel of the completed nomination form and any supporting attachments.

In the course of their deliberations a selection panel may at their discretion request additional clarification or conduct an interview with the nominee.  Panels may comprise of representatives including academics, management, industry, past students, community or governing council members.

Why should you enter the awards?

The Student Awards are an excellent way for you to recognise your achiecements.

 

All award nominees and winners can benefit from:

  • Receiving recognition from industry experts, Central staff and peers
  • Networking, exposure and being profiled as a leading achiever in your category
  • Attaining a lifelong achievement which can be displayed on resumes
  • Winners will receive a monetary prize for each of the categories available with the chance of representing Central at the WA Training Awards.

 How to enter

 

Follow the 5 steps to enter

 

Step 1: Access the online form to get started

 Applications are now closed, so the link to the form has been disabled.
 

Step 2:  Confirm your eligibility to enter

Carefully read the eligibility criteria when you have selected the appropriate category and confirm that you can apply. 
If you're not quite sure whether you're able to apply, take a look at our Eligibility Guide. If you can tick the boxes in one particular category, then start writing your application!
Please note that 2012 Award winners are ineligible to nominate for the 2013 Central Student Awards.

Step 3: Begin writing your nomination!

Step 4: Get your lecturer to write a reference

As part of the attachment component, you are required to obtain a reference from your lecturer in support of your nomination. Ensure that you give your lecturer plenty of time to prepare. We have a reference template that lecturers can use.


Step 5: Submit!

Ensure your completed nomination is submitted to the Student Award Coordinator no later than 5pm Thursday 28 February 2013.
