About the course
Ask us a question about this course
This qualification has a focus on 'hands on' learning and the practical skills sought by industry. You will use powerline communications (PLC) equipment for automation tasks (materials handling, robotics, production) for both pneumatic and electrical equipment.
Gaining skills in computer aided drafting (CAD), you will be able to interpret and create drawings and use these drawings in the manufacture of equipment using workshop machinery (lathes, welding, tapping etc.).
The first semester of the course is common to the Mechanical Engineering stream, the second semester specialises in mechatronics.
For details about the subjects covered within the course download our Course Map.
Graduates of this course can go on to study WA95 Advanced Diploma in Engineering - Technical (Mechanical) or seek entry into Curtin University's Bachelor of Engineering program.
University Pathways
Central’s University pathway arrangements mean your Diploma of Engineering Technical (Mechatonics) will provide you with the opportunity for direct entry and an advanced standing in a University of Southern Queensland course.
University of Southern Queensland
Associate Degree in Engineering (Mechanical)
Assessed on an individual basis, credit of up to one semester equivalent full time. Credit will depend on units completed.
