The need for creative and qualified thinkers in the film and television industry is growing and like our previous graduates, your Diploma of Screen and Media from Central will put you a cut above the rest. This Diploma gives you the opportunity to 'test before you buy' the different areas of film and television. Once completed you can specialise in the different areas of directing, cinematography, producing, production design or sound design with further study at Central or by beginning your career straight away!

By working in Central's industry standard studios and on real life productions, you'll be getting the most practical experience possible that will allow you to walk out of Central and onto a film shoot with confidence.

Your Diploma of Screen and Media (Film and Television) opens the door for specialisation at Central with the Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media specialising in Camera, Director, Post-Production, Producer, Production Design and Sound Design. This course also offers direct pathways into Western Australia’s Universities.

Upon completion of this certificate you can go on to further study and specialisation at Central with the Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media or head straight into university.

Fee information


Domestic students:
The costs for this course for a semester are: $626 or $313 (concession). On top of this there is also a resource cost of $1451. The resource fee is an estimate because the amount depends on which units you choose. You will be given the exact amount at enrolment. Find out more about how the costs are determined.

An estimate of the total cost of the course is $4154 (non conc) over the one year the course takes to complete.

Paying your fees

You will be  expected to pay your course fees in full at the time of enrolment.

Fees can be paid at our student services offices at any of Central’s campuses. You can also pay by credit card over the phone, however, if you wish to pay by instalments, you will need to make your first payment in person and sign the payment plan terms and conditions.

Assistance may be available for those students experiencing financial hardship.

In order to gain entry into this course you must complete the (CT44) Certificate IV in Screen and Media (Film and Television).
